It is a common myth that weight loss diet starves you. First get the concept of diet right. A balanced diet is composed of primary food items that nourishes & repairs our body and provides energy to cells.

In our hectic lifestyle we usually skip the most important meal of the day-breakfast. Breakfast kick starts metabolism and it is most active in the morning. Food items like oats, fruits, cereals, vegetable juice, shakes, dhokla and idli etc, make for an ideal breakfast. For mid morning snack, one can have dried fruits, nuts, fruits etc which provides minerals and vitamins to the body.

During day time, make sure you include carbohydrates in your meal as they provide energy. For lunch have chapattis, rice, chicken veggies, dal, curd and salad. The key is to keep the helping less and adding raw vegetables with the meal.

Before dinner, you can snack on ground nut, walnut, makhana etc as in the morning post breakfast. Now the last meal of the day should be simple and should be eaten early. Ideally, one should have dinner by 7 pm and avoid heavy curries and carbs. Instead include vegetables, tofu, paneer, fish, beans and salad. The first tip is to start you day with water. If you can squeeze half lemon to your water, it would make your body alkaline.

Always have fruits on an empty stomach, if consumed post meals or after sunset it can cause acidity.

Take your time while drinking water and try to finish your glass of water in 2 to 3 minutes so that you consume enough saliva with it. Just so you know, digestion starts in our mouth as saliva contains enzyme which helps digestion.

Sleep for at-least 7 to 8 hours in a day.

Exercise for 30 to 45 minutes a day. You can walk, run, jog or do aerobics.
